Is there any NEW in the world?
A favorite philosopher of mine, Oscar Wilde, once said
“Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else’s opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation”
Yes, we see something we like, we are quick to obtain or use it in our own life’s.
We naturally want to better our own self as that is only human nature. I do not see this as being unoriginal, as it is something naturally we do. No two people are exactly the same. Therefore one could argue that in doing one thing, another would not do that same act in the exact way as the first . If anyone has ever seen someone do something such as ride a bike. Then, only being human, tried to ride that bike judging what to do based on how the first person acted. The second will likely not exactly do the same as the first.
Monkey see, Monkey do. it is something that we have all done and will continue to do. Is it such a bad thing to copy the actions of another? No. Some might find it depressing that what people watch you do, hear you say or basically most everything that shows the world your beliefs and passions, are all things that you observed with your senses and essentially copied. However this shouldn’t be the case. If one cannot complete an action in the exact way as another, this makes you different.
We become what we want to become, but in our own way. If we want to be like someone badly enough (a role model or idol) I believe we naturally take them into us and shape our own selfs based on their characteristics. In taking something and imitating it, we create something new, and that is a beautiful thing.
